TCM / Acupuncture – Pain Management Acupuncture In The Treatment of Pain

Synopsis: Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine filiform needles into the body to achieve therapeutic effects. It is probably the most well studied modality in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This talk will explore concepts of acupoints, mechanisms of action of acupuncture, current evidence for the use of acupuncture and how it can be integrated into one’s clinical practice.
Associate Professor Kong is currently Senior Consultant with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and Head, Complementary Integrative Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). Associate Professor Kong is also a certified acupuncturist by the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) board, Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore. His main clinical interests include stroke and neurological rehabilitation, spasticity management, motor point blocks, nerve blocks, botulinum toxin injections, and medical acupuncture.
